Corporate Computer Center
Hospital Sisters Health System operates a state-of-the-art computer center, which provides cost effective planning, implementation, development, and support from a centralized facility for the Clinical and Business information systems utilized by the 13 affiliate hospitals and the Corporate Office. The Computer Center also coordinates high speed communications between the HSHS facilities, and assists with the evaluation, procurement, and implementation of both hardware and software products used by the hospitals.
Established in 1984, the Corporate Computer Center is located adjacent to the HSHS Corporate Office on the grounds of St. Francis Convent in Springfield, Illinois and operates 24 hours per day/365 days per year.
The 33,000 square foot building was designed specifically for computer services and much attention was paid to the smallest detail; such as the double floor running throughout the building that facilitates cabling and electrical services from one area to another. The center maintains diesel-powered Caterpillar generators which can generate enough electricity to keep the facility running indefinitely in the event of a power outage.
The Corporate Computer Center is a crucial service that supports the healing ministry of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis. As society becomes more sophisticated, so too do the means used to continue the Sisters’ mission.
