Surgical Services

Composed of Ambulatory Surgery, Surgical Home, Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Endoscopy, and Interventional Pain Management. Our Surgical Services Department nursing staff is proud to be a part of a team delivering state of the art care including Open Heart procedures DaVinci robotics surgery and Super Dimensions Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy. Guided by standards of AORN, ASPAN and SGNA, Surgical Services colleagues are committed to delivering the highest level of service to our patients and surgeons.  We look forward to moving to the new O’Fallon campus where we will deliver superior care in an Interventional Platform joining Surgical Services with our award winning Cardiac and Vascular Service Departments.  

Infusion Services

Ensuring our community is able to receive outstanding outpatient nursing services close to home is what inspires our Infusion Services nursing colleagues. Infusion Services nurses provide much needed care including outpatient infusions, blood transfusions, injections & vaccinations, and procedures such as Venous Access Device management.


Our emergency department staff includes doctors, nurses and technicians who are specially trained in caring for patients facing life-threatening and other emergency situations. Infinity-Meds provides physician management and expertise in providing high-quality care. With leading edge technology at our fingertips, we can process x-rays, CT scans and other diagnostic tests accurately and quickly, allowing faster diagnosis and treatment in wide range areas. We are a Certified Chest Pain Center. In 2004, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital became the first hospital in the St. Louis metropolitan area to be designated as an accredited Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Women and Infants

Composed of Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby and the Well Baby and Intermediate Care Nurseries, our highly-trained nurses provide specialized, compassionate, family-centered care. Our practice is guided by the most current and evidence-based guidelines and many of our nurses hold certifications in obstetrical nursing. At St. Elizabeth’s Women and Infants Center, we consider it a privilege to be part of one of life’s most memorable and extraordinary moments.


Thirty-two private patient rooms make up the layout of this state-of-the-art Medical-Surgical Inpatient wing. Patients with diagnosis ranging from Cellulitis, Pneumonia, to total joints and colon resections and even oncology, receive exceptional patient care from a team of well qualified RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.


Telemetry Units A and B are made up of 64 private patient rooms that provide evidenced based, comprehensive and quality nursing care to patients diagnosed with heart conditions who require telemetry monitoring.

Intensive Care Unit [ICU]

The ICU consists of 16 private patient use rooms.  Each area is equipped to provide continuous cardiac, hemodynamic, neurological and SpO2 monitoring simultaneously from both centralized and bedside devices. This unit provides services for the critically ill adult patient suffering from cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, surgical and renal diseases, as well as those with multiple co-morbidities. There are also beds reserved for those patients requiring coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), interventional cardiac procedures, acute MI, and non-infectious conditions. Critical care modalities include [but not limited to] therapeutic hypothermia, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and care of the post procedural Impella device patients.

Case Management

Case Management nurses at St. Elizabeth's advocate for patients and families utilizing all available resources to promote quality, cost and effective outcomes. The team assesses plans and facilitates the comprehensive health needs of our patients.

SID Float Pool

RN colleagues provide a high level of quality care in departments like ED, Med/Surg, Telemetry and ICU. These nurses are placed at any of our five divisional hospitals, St. Elizabeth’s, St. Joseph’s at Breese or Highland, St. Anthony’s Effingham and Holy Family Greenville on specific units for 10-12 weeks at a time.


St. Elizabeth’s UrgiCare provides convenient, no-appointment-necessary medical treatment to our region. We provide high-quality care for non-emergent unexpected illnesses, minor accidents and work-related injuries. Our urgent care provides an alternative to visiting the emergency room, often with shorter wait times, and is staffed by emergency-trained providers and registered nurses.
