Letter from the Chief Nursing Officer

St. Mary's Chief Nursing OfficerIt is a privilege to serve as the Chief Nursing Officer at HSHS St.
Mary’s Hospital
in Decatur, Illinois. I am so grateful for my experiences that have led me here. I have been in this role since April of 2015. Before that, I served as the Vice President of Operations/Patient Experience for the HSHS Central Illinois Division and Service Line Administrator for the CONNECT, regional referral program & Neuro Science Service Line. I also have 18 years of experience as a critical care nurse, including 12 years in a leadership role at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Every day, I am reminded by my colleagues how to practice the HSHS core values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy. From the nurses on the floors and procedural areas, to the education and leadership team, every nurse I interact with represents those values. I am thankful that I get to work with such hard-working, compassionate nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Each nurse fills different roles at St. Mary’s. There is the go-to nurse that has all of the answers and knows the resources necessary to provide exceptional care. There is the nurse that brings joy to a unit with every interaction, and there is You, the one with a passion for bettering yourself and others around you while connecting with all you encounter. Every nurse contributes to our mission to reveal and embody Christ's healing love for all people through our high quality Franciscan health care ministry and that is what I love about St. Mary’s Hospital.

I am extremely blessed to be leading this group of amazing nurses, who are dedicated and committed to their profession…Caring/Nursing.  Apply today to join our team.

Michelle Oliver, RN, BSN, MBA
