SHELBYVILLE, IL –
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and it is a time to recognize the efforts of organizations who work together to prevent abuse. To honor this work, HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital will hold a Pray for Our Children service. Special prayers will be offered for children who are affected by substance abuse.
The prayer service will be held on the lawn of the east side of the hospital on Thursday, April 5 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Please bring a lawn chair. Should rain occur, the event will be moved inside to the hospital’s chapel.
As well as colleagues from the hospital, the event will include community leaders and groups who advocate for families and children within their organizations. The service will include prayer, readings and song. Please wear navy blue to the prayer service because that is the color of this movement.
All guests will receive a blue pinwheel and a blue ribbon. For awareness, please help hospital colleagues tie blue ribbons on the trees and place blue pinwheels in the east lawn of the hospital at the end of the ceremony. Attendees are also allowed to take a pinwheel home.
In the words of Mother Theresa, “If you want to bring happiness to the whole world, go home and love your family.”
