HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital hosted the faculty from Shelbyville High School (SHS) last week.
The faculty from SHS learned ways to educate students on health care opportunities in their hometown. They spoke with department leaders from the hospital about the different career options each specific area holds.
“Educating teachers in the school system provides students with opportunities a hospital can give them for career paths in their local community,” said Jessica Tipton, human resources generalist for HSHS Good Shepherd. “Most people think of doctors and nurses when they think positions at a hospital. We have so many more opportunities than that, and we want to make sure our local students have the resources to broaden their scope of career choices.”
Good Shepherd will be providing a career workshop for students in a few weeks, holding mock interviews, and giving them feedback on how to interview for their first job.
