It was a mixture of smiles, hugs, well wishes and tears. Friends, current and former colleagues, board members and former patients gathered on Monday, June 26 to say goodbye to Marilyn Sears as she entered retirement this week.

During her tenure of 28 years, she has always held a leadership role. Sears first worked as the chief financial officer, and readily admits it was her favorite office. She also twice held an office as an interim chief executive officer (CEO) before becoming the CEO and most recently as chief operating officer.

Sears readily brags that she had the best job in the world because of the people with whom she worked. She said, “I loved my job at the hospital. I had the best staff in the world. It was the people that made the job so attractive to me. It was the people that I looked forward to seeing each day. And it will be the people who I will miss the most.”
