HSHS Medical Group Awards Colleague of the Month to Sharon Bernstein

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Sharon Bernstein with our June Colleague of the Month Award. Sharon works as a patient service representative at the HSHS Neuroscience Center in Springfield, Illinois. Sharon’s primary responsibilities include working with patients both in person and on the phone to facilitate their access to the health care providers at HSHS Neuroscience Center.

A patient recently said, “Sharon, you may not remember me, but I wanted to thank you for your kindness and compassion the other day when I called. You never know what someone is dealing with, and I won’t forget how kind you were.” Sharon has a servant’s heart and knows her patients by name. She makes it her purpose to remember something about each of them and connect when they come in or call. Sharon loves joking and making patients feel happy or listening when they need to talk, as you never know a person’s home life or what they’ve gone through, so it’s important to show them Christ-like love. Sharon gets her inspiration from her parents, who have passed, but taught her much about life and love. 

In Sharon’s spare time, she works at the Gateway Foundation, where she particularly enjoys their therapy dog, Chance. She also spends time with her daughter and large extended family. Thank you, Sharon, for exemplifying Patient-First Care.
