HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Tammy Gieseking with our January 2022 Colleague of the Month Award. A medical assistant at HSHS Medical Group General Surgery in Highland, Tammy has worked with HSHS for nearly twelve years.
The Colleague of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members. “Tammy goes above and beyond to help others, whether it be patients or colleagues,” says her nominator. “She puts others FIRST. She represents HSHS Medical Group to the best of her ability daily.”
Tammy is described as kind, patient, joyful and knowledgeable about her job. One colleague is being taught a new computer system by Tammy and says, “Tammy is one of the most outstanding preceptors I have ever had. I can’t say thank you enough for what she is doing for me. She has tried to make learning fun and has the patience of a saint.”
Another colleague describes Tammy as her “work mom,” who goes above and beyond to check in on the staff in the office. She cares about colleagues and patients alike, even working overtime and helping other HSHS Medical Group offices.
Tammy says her favorite part of her job is taking care of patients and their needs. She enjoys constantly learning new things from the doctors she works with. Tammy tries to make sure all colleagues and patients know that they are important to HSHS. When asked how she lives the HSHS Mission and Core Values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy, she said that great patient care is “made possible by the great colleagues, doctors and management we have at HSHS.”
When Tammy is not providing excellent health care, she enjoys spending time with her family and attending sporting events, boating with friends and traveling.
