HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Christopher Sutton, DO, with our July Provider of the Month Award. Dr. Sutton is a pulmonary medicine physician for HSHS Medical Group Multispecialty Care - St. Elizabeth’s in O’Fallon, Illinois.
The Provider of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members. “Dr. Sutton always makes sure his patients are taken care of,” his nominator said. “He shows compassion and care when it comes to treating all his patients. He takes time to make sure everyone feels comfortable and explains things in a way that is easy to understand. Patients love him and cannot say enough good things about him!”
Dr. Sutton’s favorite part of the job is working with exceptional co-workers to care for patients and make a positive impact in their lives. “I always put myself in the patients’ shoes,” he said. “I strive to truly understand my patients’ goals and wishes, which gives me perspective on how to best approach their care in a holistic manner. I try to be always respectful of my patients’ wishes. I feel that through educating my patients about their disease, and engaging in shared decision making when needed, we can navigate complex medical issues and decisions. I am always mindful of my patients’ quality of life and how to best optimize this.”
When Dr. Sutton isn’t helping his patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife Angela, their children Nora and Antonio and dog Benny. He is also a musician and enjoys playing the drums and singing.
About HSHS Medical Group
HSHS Medical Group is the physician organization of Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS). Launched in 2009, HSHS Medical Group is a critical component of the HSHS Care Integration strategy, which focuses on bringing physicians, technology, and patients together to improve the overall health of our communities. Today, HSHS Medical Group is comprised of over 1,300 colleagues in locations throughout Central and Southern Illinois. HSHS Medical Group is powered by the Franciscan history of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, and our faith-based identity led us to the single most important tenet of the HSHS Medical Group philosophy — patient-first care.
