On October 28, HSHS Medical Group held a retirement reception for Allen Gerberding, MD, a family medicine physician at HSHS Medical Group Multispecialty Care – Jacksonville.
Speakers at the reception included HSHS Medical Group’s Melinda Clark, CEO; Loren Hughes, MD, president; Sonya Jones, outreach representative; and Tonya Kirk, practice manager. In addition, Dr. Gerberding’s children Alex Gerberding and Elizabeth LeBlanc spoke at the event.
“We have been proud to have Dr. Allen Gerberding as part of the HSHS Medical Group family,” Clark said. “For eight years, he was a wonderful representative of everything HSHS Medical Group stands for, especially patient-first care. We wish him the best as he embarks on his retirement.”
Prior to joining HSHS Medical Group in March 2011, Dr. Gerberding was in private practice in Jacksonville for 27 years. He was known for being respectful, patient and thorough with his patients. Dr. Gerberding also often became a friend to his patients, sharing stories, jokes, political views and sometimes his faith in God. He was also one of the last doctors to personally call his patients with lab results. Dr. Gerberding is married to Nancy and the proud father of Nick (wife Angie), Alex (wife Shana) and Elizabeth (husband Justin). He is the stepfather of Drew (wife Andrea) and Jessica; grandfather of Michael; and step-grandfather of Piper, Chaz, Tony and Anna.
Although it will be difficult to fill Dr. Gerberding’s shoes at HSHS Medical Group Multispecialty Care – Jacksonville, the practice is welcoming two new providers in the near future: Edgard Cumpa, MD, internal medicine; and Jessica Boozer, APRN, family medicine.
