HSHS Medical Group’s newest Health Today episode features Fred Richardson, Jr., MD, family medicine physician at HSHS Medical Group Family Health in Effingham, Illinois. With his patient-first commitment, Dr. Richardson says, “We offer our community a full spectrum of family medicine. We care for patients and their families from cradle to grave, from newborns to elders.”
In his conversation with Health Today host Sonya Jones, Dr. Richardson explains his role as a family medicine physician. A unique component of Dr. Richardson’s care is that he is one of the few physicians that still make house calls. “Actually, it has been a key component of my care since I began practicing family medicine 30 years ago, and it still is today,” he said.
Dr. Richardson earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College. He completed a family medicine residency with Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center/Christ Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Richardson concludes, “Our philosophy is to treat everyone the way we would like to be treated and give patients the time and the attention they deserve. This includes developing a true relationship with patients. It’s not just a doctor’s visit; it’s actually becoming a member of a person’s family.”
