HSHS Medical Group Welcomes Reuben Mari Valenzuela, MD, Neurologist

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to welcome Reuben Mari Valenzuela, MD, adult neurologist, to their medical team. Dr. Valenzuela sees patients at HSHS Neuroscience Center - Springfield, located at 421 N. 9th St. in Springfield, Illinois.

As a skilled adult neurologist, Dr. Valenzuela’s scope of practice includes:

• Multiple sclerosis
• Neuro-ophthalmic conditions
  • Optic neuritis

  • Ocular myasthenia
  • Giant cell arteritis

  • Idiopathic intracranial hypertension

Dr. Valenzuela received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. He completed an adult neurology residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois. Dr. Valenzuela performed a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Moran Eye Center, in Salt Lake City. He also completed a neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis fellowship at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Valenzuela is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
