HSHS Medical Group celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility at 1204 W. Burnett Dr., in Taylorville, IL. Opening spring 2019, the new facility will be home to HSHS Medical Group providers Richard Del Valle, MD, FACP, and Mallory McKinnie, APRN, along with Prairie Cardiovascular. HSHS Medical Group plans to add more primary care providers at this facility in the future.

Speakers included Bruce Barry, mayor, City of Taylorville; Melinda Clark, chief executive officer, HSHS Medical Group; Loren Hughes, MD, president, HSHS Medical Group; and Marc Shelton, MD, president, Prairie Cardiovascular. A prayer was offered by Reverend Monsignor David S. Lantz, pastor at St. Mary in Taylorville.

“Dr. Del Valle and his father have offered compassionate medical care to the Taylorville community for 60 years,” said Melinda Clark, chief executive officer of HSHS Medical Group. “HSHS Medical Group is proud to bring Dr. Richard Del Valle (Dr. Rick) back to the Taylorville community. We also look forward to offering expanded care, including family medicine and state-of-the-art lab and imaging services on-site.”

Now retired, Ignacio Del Valle, MD, and his wife, Mary Kay, a surgical nurse, came to Taylorville in 1958 where Dr. Ignacio Del Valle practiced surgery at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital. Dr. Ignacio Del Valle joined the practice of Dr. P. K. Hagan, a family physician two years later. His son, Dr. Richard Del Valle, studied internal medicine and returned to his hometown of Taylorville in 1989 to practice medicine with his father. Dr. Richard Del Valle joined HSHS Medical Group in 2016, practicing internal medicine in Blue Mound, IL, for two years. Next spring Dr. Rick will return to Taylorville to care for patients.

"The Doctors of Prairie have enjoyed a long relationship with our patients and friends in the Taylorville area,” said Dr. Shelton. “We are thrilled to be part of the expansion of state-of-the-art medical services in a convenient location in the community."
