Neonatal Virtual Care
Your newborn is never far away from highly specialized care. HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital offers state-of-the-art virtual care services in our Women and Infants Center. Using telemedicine, neonatal virtual care brings specialty care to our patients in Eau Claire – when and where it is needed most. This specialized program utilizes technology to connect HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital Women and Infant staff with newborn care specialists at Children’s Minnesota in order to coordinate specialized care for newborns that need critical medical attention.
Neonatology or NICU is specialized care of ill or premature newborn infants.
A newborn care specialist is connected to HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital through a TV with two-way audio and video equipment, allowing the newborn care specialist to see, hear and communicate with you, your baby and colleagues at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital live and in real-time. During a virtual care encounter, a Children's Minnesota neonatologist works with the baby's doctor and family to develop a treatment plan. This plan will include either transferring your baby to Children’s Minnesota NICU or staying right here at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital for continued medical care.
