Oconto Falls – Holiday shopping will take center stage on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but the act of giving is set to shine on Tuesday, Nov. 28, with #GivingTuesday - an international movement to celebrate generosity and to give back to our communities. It was started in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street YMCA in partnership with the United Nations as an effort to create a national day of giving during the holiday season.
Anyone is welcome to participate in #GivingTuesday by contributing money or time to a local charity, or committing a simple act of kindness. HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is hoping the public will participate by making a donation to the not-for-profit hospital, which cares for all people regardless of their ability to pay. Charitable donations to the hospital make up for the shortfalls of Medicaid and Medicare payments and provide care for many patients who have no insurance or are underinsured.
“Charitable donations have a significant impact on our ability to go above and beyond caring for you, your family and friends,” said Matthew Astleford, Development Manager at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital. “Every dollar donated directly benefits the patients and families we serve by giving us the ability to acquire life-saving technology and provide a high level of health care excellence for those in need of care today and for future generations.”
For example, a donation of ...
-
$5 could provide a hygiene kit to a local student in need.
-
$15 could help purchase clothing to stock the St. Clare Closet for emergency room patients.
-
$35 could provide a gas card to offset the cost of travel expense in an emergency.
-
$325 could provide a mammogram for a woman in need.
There is no donation too big or too small. All gifts are valued for the difference they make in the life of another. Donate to HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital by visiting www.stclarememorial.org/Giving/Giving-Tuesday.
