Green Bay – Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) – Eastern Wisconsin Division has announced the appointment of Dr. Mark J. Thompson as Chief Physician Executive of its four hospitals in Northeast Wisconsin: HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay; HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan; and HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls.
“In his role, Dr. Thompson will lead HSHS –Eastern Wisconsin Division’s initiatives around quality, patient safety and clinical integration,” said Therese Pandl, President and CEO, HSHS-Eastern Wisconsin Division. “He brings more than 20 years of experience in health care management and physician leadership to our hospitals, and we are pleased to have him join our Franciscan healing ministry.”
Dr. Thompson received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Albion College in Albion, Michigan, and completed medical school at Michigan State University; residency at Midland Family Medicine Residency in Midland, Mich.; and a fellowship in faculty development at the University of Michigan. He served four years in the United States Air Force following residency while working as a military faculty member at Saint Louis University Family Medicine Residency and Scott Air Force Base.
Dr. Thompson and his family will be relocating from New Glarus, Wis. to Northeast Wisconsin in the near future. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Monroe Clinic in southern Wisconsin and will begin his new role with HSHS-Eastern Wisconsin Division in September. Prior to his position with Monroe Clinic, Dr. Thompson served as the Program Director for the UW Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency in Appleton.
