(O’FALLON, IL) – On Saturday, June 29, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in partnership with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon and the O’Fallon Public Library, is hosting a free Summer Safety education event. The event will take place from 10-11 a.m. in the Community Room at the O’Fallon Library at 120 Civic Plaza, O’Fallon and is open to the public.
Event participants will learn the latest recommendations on how to keep their kids safe this summer from common accidents and injuries such as concussions, swimming accidents, bike safety, drowning, heat illness and more. Plus, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A session with our expert SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Emergency Department pediatrician Dr. Khang Nguyen.
“I am pleased to be able to offer this important education to area parents and families,” said Dr. Nguyen. “Summer is an exciting time for children, but there is also an increased risk of accidents and injury as children have more time for leisure activities. As parents and caregivers, it not only is important to be aware of common risks, but also to know how to prevent these events from occurring and how to properly respond if something does happen.”
St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) by the Illinois Department of Public Health and proudly partners with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to bring nationally recognized pediatric care to the Metro-East region. Through this partnership, Cardinal Glennon board certified physicians are available in St. Elizabeth’s emergency department and newborn nursery 24/7 to provide expert care to patients under 18 years of age.
