HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers Award $2000 in Scholarships to Area Students

(O’Fallon, IL) - HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers Scholarship Committee recently awarded two $1000 scholarships to area students through the annual HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary Volunteer Scholarship program.
The Auxiliary Volunteer Scholarship is offered to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital colleagues and volunteers, as well as their spouses, children and grandchildren. The scholarship winners were chosen from a blind process based on volunteer hours, resume and letters of recommendation. Applicants provided a short submission about their career path and goals.
The recipients were:

Ashley Gagen of Belleville, Illinois, who plans to attend Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in the fall.

Emily Dering of Hazelwood, Missouri, who plans to attend Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). She additionally serves as volunteer at the hospital.
The St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary Volunteers Scholarship Committee is proud to offer these scholarships to support the educational goals of students in our community and to continue to grow the health care professionals of the future for our region.
