(O’FALLON, IL)  – On Saturday, February 23, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in partnership Prairie Heart & Vascular Institute and O’Fallon EMS will host a free HEALTHY HEARTS EVENT. The event will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the O’Fallon Library. 

As February is National Heart Health Awareness month, the event will include information on preventative heart health, cardiac services and support with special feature presentation by Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants Cardiologist Atul Shah, MD.

The event will also offer free glucose, cholesterol (requires fasting), blood pressure and height, weight screenings. Guests will then be able to learn about their personal Heart Risk Assessment Score using the screening values collected and talk to clinicians about ways to improve their health.
Additional event features include:

  • Hands-only CPR information and demonstrations

  • Early Heart Attack Care presentation

  • Check the Fridge initiative presentation, giveaways and more.

The schedule of activities is as follows:

  • 9:30am  Welcome

  • 9:40-10:50am  Heart health screenings and educational demonstrations. Hands-only CPR demonstration and Early Heart Attack Care information. Guests will be split into two groups for sessions and screenings during timeframe.

  • 10:50-11:10am Meet Prairie Cardiologist Dr. Atul Shah and learn about new, innovative heart care procedures available at St. Elizabeth’s.

  • 11:10am New Check the Fridge initiative information and giveaways by Prairie Heart & Vascular Institute

  • 11:20am Closing Remarks
