New HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Opening

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital has now opened the doors of their new hospital and health center in O’Fallon, IL. In a well-coordinated move involving several area EMS agencies and the assistance of Scott Air Force Base personnel, 56 patients were successfully transferred by ambulance, from St. Elizabeth’s current facility in the 200 block of South Third Street in Belleville, to the new hospital, located along Interstate 64 and North Green Mount Road in O’Fallon.
The hospital began moving patients on Saturday, November 4 around 5:00 AM.

Background information: HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital opened the doors of their new hospital and health center in O’Fallon, IL, on November 4, 2017.
The hospital broke ground on construction in June of 2015 after receiving unanimous approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) in April of the same year. Construction was done by Alberici-Holland Joint Venture and the building was designed by Kahler Slater Architects.
The $300 million facility is centrally located for the southwestern Illinois region that it serves and closer to Scott Air Force Base and the community hospitals that refer patients to St. Elizabeth’s, such as HSHS affiliate hospitals St. Joseph’s in Highland and St. Joseph’s in Breese, as well as other surrounding community hospitals. The new building sits on 120 acres of land off Interstate 64 and North Green Mount Road.
St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon offers 144 private patient rooms, an emergency department, state-of-the-art operating rooms, an advanced intensive care unit, and inpatient rehabilitation. Additional inpatient and outpatient services at the new facility include cancer care, modern birthing suites, telehealth consultations featuring accredited stroke care, award-winning heart care, and much more.
