Background information: HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital opened the doors of their new hospital and health center in O’Fallon, IL, on November 4, 2017.

The hospital broke ground on construction in June of 2015 after receiving unanimous approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) in April of the same year. Construction was done by Alberici-Holland Joint Venture and the building was designed by Kahler Slater Architects.

The $300 million facility is centrally located for the southwestern Illinois region that it serves and closer to Scott Air Force Base and the community hospitals that refer patients to St. Elizabeth’s, such as HSHS affiliate hospitals St. Joseph’s in Highland and St. Joseph’s in Breese, as well as other surrounding community hospitals. The new building sits on 120 acres of land off Interstate 64 and North Green Mount Road.
St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon offers 144 private patient rooms, an emergency department, state-of-the-art operating rooms, an advanced intensive care unit, and inpatient rehabilitation. Additional inpatient and outpatient services at the new facility include cancer care, modern birthing suites, telehealth consultations featuring accredited stroke care, award-winning heart care, and much more.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital will be a health and wellness destination for the entire southwestern Illinois region for decades to come. To learn more about the current hospital and countdown to opening of the new facility, visit
