(Belleville, IL) – Community members are invited to nominate HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital colleagues who are extraordinary every day for the hospital’s new quarterly BEE Award. What is the BEE Award? The BEE (Being Extraordinary Everyday) Award was established to recognize the colleagues who go beyond expectations, similar to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing. Just as the Daisy cannot survive without the Bee, the nurses cannot survive without the outstanding teamwork provided by other colleagues.
Nominations are being accepted from community members for this quarter’s award now through May 1. The first award will be presented on May 12 at the ceremony honoring the DAISY Award winner, and quarterly with the DAISY Award thereafter. Those eligible for the BEE Award include all hospital employees outside of nursing.
The BEE Award honors (non-nurse) colleagues who support the role of the Register Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to deliver extraordinary patient care. For example, colleague nominees could include Patient Care Technicians, Medical Assistants, Respiratory Therapists, Food and Nutrition, Transport, Environmental Services, Supply and Distribution, etc. – any colleague outside of the nursing arena. (RN’s and LPN’s should be nominated for the DAISY Award.)

Patients and visitors are encouraged to share and submit their story of witnessing excellent and compassionate care from any non-nursing colleague.
