(O’FALLON, IL) - Regina Peterson, DNP, RN of Mascoutah, IL, has been named the Chief Nursing Officer for HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by hospital President and CEO Patti Fischer. She will assume the leadership role effective immediately.

Peterson has been with Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) in various roles since 2006 and most recently served the Southern Illinois Division as Divisional Director of Professional Development, RN Residency and Divisional Float Pool. Previous roles included Interim Chief Nursing Officer at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, Nurse Manager of Staff Development and Clinical Education at St. Elizabeth’s and Nurse Manager of the Progressive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth’s.

“Regina is an excellent leader who is very effective in building and maintaining high-performance teams that drive our safe and quality-driven health care delivery systems. We are very excited to have her in this new role,” notes Fischer. “Her experience at St. Elizabeth’s and across the Southern Illinois Division has also been instrumental in the growth and development of many educational programs that benefit our clinical colleagues while providing our hospitals with top quality caregivers in all areas of service.”

Peterson is a licensed registered nurse who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education from McKendree University. Regina is also a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Ethical Leadership, which she earned in 2018 also from McKendree University.

Hospital leadership also thanks Executive Director of Surgical Services Sue Holloway, BSN, RN, for her service as Interim Chief Nursing Officer during the recruitment search.
