HSHS St. Francis Foundation Promotes Local Giving Tuesday

HSHS St. Francis Foundation has joined the global Giving Tuesday effort and asks the community to consider donating to St. Francis Hospital on this special day of giving.

“For 145 years St. Francis Hospital has served Montgomery and Macoupin counties with quality health care. The community has generously supported the hospital with their monetary gifts and volunteerism,” shared Paula Endress, director of philanthropy for St. Francis Hospital. “During this season of giving we ask the community to consider making a donation to St. Francis Hospital. Each gift, regardless of size, directly impacts the availability of quality health care close to home for our residents and we are very grateful for this support.”

Giving Tuesday represents a global day dedicated to giving back. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (December 1, 2020), charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world come together to celebrate generosity and helping others. Giving Tuesday is held annually after the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate to improve their local communities and give back in impactful ways to charities and other causes they support.

Financial contributions are vital to the healing ministry of St. Francis Hospital. The HSHS St. Francis Foundation was established to advance the Mission of the hospital to provide health care to all and carry the hospital’s values and traditions for future generations. By giving to the local foundation, donors can be assured that donation is making a difference for patients, their families and the community.

As a nonprofit hospital, St. Francis Hospital relies on contributions to provide and enhance local health care services. Last year, the St. Francis Foundation provided $300,000 to the hospital for investments in equipment and the facility. Those donated funds assisted the hospital in providing the following:

  • Stress Testing/EKG Services – Used in combination with imaging to detect cardiac issues and measure heart rhythms to detect heart attacks. This equipment was provided from the generosity at the Robinson Brothers concert.
  • Emergency Room Renovation – New rooms and centralized nurse monitoring to better care for emergencies, provide continuous oversight of patients and allow more collaborative care amongst caregivers.
  • DEXA Scanner – Assesses bone density to detect osteoporosis.
