Last week, HSHS St. John’s Hospital hosted a Diaper Drive for the babies in our Beyond the NICU program.
Not only did the hospital reach its goal of 30,000 diapers, but thanks to the overwhelming support of hospital staff and the community, the goal was surpassed in a big way. On Dec. 5 and 6, St. John’s Hospital collected 52,390 diapers, 85,233 wipes and more than $4,000 for our must vulnerable babies and their families.
Hospital staff would like to thank all who donated to this project, as well as Children’s Miracle Network partners – Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart – for being drop-off locations for the drive.
Beyond the NICU is a home care program to help premature babies and their families make a smooth transition from the hospital to home in both the Springfield and Decatur areas.
Monetary donations are welcomed on an ongoing basis for this program. Financial support for Beyond the NICU is provided by HSHS St. John’s Hospital Foundation. To learn more about this program, please visit www.sjchildrens.org/beyondtheNICU.
