HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital is teaming up with Child Safety USA to provide free, FBI-ready identification cards for parents and guardians of children 18 and younger on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the new Women and Infants Clinic building located at 400 N. Ninth St. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No appointment is necessary.

The ID cards include inkless fingerprints, physical descriptions, a current photo and parent/guardian information. Fingerprints and a photo taken at the event are scanned to a document and printed on-site. Personal information is left blank for the parent/guardian to fill in; no personal information will be shared or stored.

According to the FBI, there were more than 424,000 children reported missing in 2018. Providing readily available information to law enforcement the moment a child is reported missing can save precious minutes identifying and locating a child.

Members of the Springfield Police Department will also be on hand to provide Internet safety tips. Parents and guardians will learn ways predators use electronic devices and social media to target, groom and recruit children.

For more information, contact Mary Rogers at 217-814-4308.
