Tele-ICU Services

Tele-ICU uses technology that combines clinical management software with virtual care tools to enable remote intensivist-led teams to collaborate on the care of patients in St. John’s ICU units. AICU clinicians monitor certain vital signs and laboratory results around the clock. Electronic alerts notify the St. John’s team if a situation arises that requires attention. Two-way videoconferencing technology enables AICU clinicians to see and communicate directly with bedside clinicians, patients and families.

Tele-ICU specialists work alongside your bedside team

Your doctor will still care for you. AICU clinicians monitor certain vital signs and laboratory results. Electronic alerts notify the team if a situation arises that requires attention. Videoconferencing enables tele-ICU clinicians to see and communicate directly with bedside clinicians, patients and families, when needed.

AICU Care Center

AICU care centers are staffed by fellowship-trained intensivist physicians; critical care advanced practice providers (NPs or PAs); CCRN-certified critical care nurses and health care assistants. All providers are licensed in the state of Illinois and are credentialed and privileged at the hospital. When your doctor cannot be present, tele-ICU critical care physicians are there using special computer technology to monitor your condition.
