In honor of National Philanthropy Day, HSHS St. John’s Foundation announced it has awarded grants totaling nearly $4 million in FY19 to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital, Prairie Heart Institute and St. John’s College of Nursing.

Donations from generous community members and colleagues in FY19 helped fund:

  • Nursing scholarships, new equipment for the simulation center and continuing education at St. John’s College of Nursing;

  • A remodel of the 21-room pediatric unit, mamaRoo swings, kangaroo care recliners and simulation manikins at St. John’s Children’s Hospital; and

  • A healing arts program, rehabilitation equipment and technology, community wellness initiatives, patient and family charging kiosks and specialized medical equipment for many departments within St. John’s and Prairie Heart Institute.

 “Donors enable the hospital to provide new programs and services, update technology and equipment, make facility improvements and much more,” said St. John’s President and CEO E.J. Kuiper. “While many hospitals across the nation are seeing a decline in patient volumes, St. John’s has experienced an increase. This wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our donors.”

Chief Development Officer Bev Neisler added, “Financial contributions are vital to the healing ministry at St. John’s. When donors match a cause near and dear to their heart with a priority at St. John’s, great things can
happen.”
