HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese is proud to welcome a new physical therapist to their New Baden clinic location at 211 E. Hanover St.
Emily Schirmer, PT, DPT, COMT is a licensed physical therapist with over seven years of experience working in outpatient physical therapy since graduating from Washington University in 2014. Her expertise revolves around a variety of chronic and acute upper and lower extremity injuries as well as post-operative care. Her clinical experience includes treating general musculoskeletal injuries, vestibular and concussion impairments, sport-related injuries in athletes of all ability levels, pediatric torticollis, pregnancy-related injuries, and balance/gait impairments.
Schirmer enjoys working with all ages across the lifespan. She shared, “I love being a physical therapist. I believe physical therapy should always be fun, and I want people to enjoy and look forward to coming to therapy. It is so rewarding for me to be able to work with a patient and get them to a goal they want to achieve to have a better life. Whether that is to be able to go up a flight of stairs, sit on the floor to play with their grandkids, or return to playing their favorite sport, it brings me so much joy to see them happy and living life how they want to live,” she said.
