The HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Auxiliary recently gifted the hospital’s facilities team with a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) for use on the hospital’s campus.
The Auxiliary recently donated over $16,500 to the hospital for the facilities team to purchase a new Polaris Ranger side by side UTV from Breese Lawn and Garden. The UTV comes equipped with implements such as a plow, winch, blade and salt spreader for the facilities team to use on the hospital property, off-campus sites and parking lots. The UTV was a much-needed gift as a replacement for 20-year old tractor that was no longer functioning.
St. Joseph’s Plant Services Facilitator Kevin Timmermann expressed his appreciation for the Auxiliary’s generous donation. “We are very grateful for our volunteers and the support of our Auxiliary, as this purchase would not have been possible without their gift. This machine will greatly assist our facilities team with snow removal and maintenance of our hospital and other campus properties,” he said.
Chris Gebke, director of volunteer services, shared why the Auxiliary wanted to support the hospital in this way. “While all the services delivered by hospital colleagues are important, the work that it takes to maintain this hospital campus can oftentimes be overlooked,” she explained. “Our facilities team does a great job and since they were in need of a replacement for non-functioning equipment, the Auxiliary wanted to support them with this tool that will greatly help them do their work.”
