Sally Reiss (seated) of Breese was doubly surprised she won the 34-inch by 43-inch cross-stitched Noah’s Ark quilt on the June 21 raffle sponsored by the Auxiliary at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese – first because she won and second because she hadn’t bought a ticket! The mystery was solved when a family member confessed to buying tickets in her name – a very nice thing to do. The raffle also featured a 90-inch by 109-inch gray and white appliqued quilt with black highlights and multiple stitching patterns; Dan Haselhorst of Trenton held that winning ticket. Tickets at $1 each or six/$5 are now on sale in the hospital Gift Shop for a 36-inch by 58-inch Noah’s Ark quilt in pastel colors on a white background and a 90-inch by 108-inch modified 16-patch quilt featuring multi-colored patches on an alternating white and beige background and a three-dimensional effect. Tickets will also be available at the Aug. 30 KidneyMobile and the Sept. 13 hospital health fair at the Breese Knights of Columbus Hall. Raffle quilts are generally on display across from the Gift Shop near the hospital Information Desk. In addition, a silent auction quilt is in the Cafeteria Hallway with bids due by 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays and quilts are for sale in the Gift Shop. The Gift Shop additionally stocks used books, seasonal and other merchandise and used books, puzzles, DVDs, etc., are for sale in the Cafeteria Hallway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  the second and fourth Thursdays in July and August except for holidays, hospital and/or Auxiliary events.
