In fall 2016, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese broke ground on a $9.5 million expansion of an Outpatient Surgery Center. This is the hospital’s first expansion of this magnitude since 1969. The Outpatient Surgery Center will open this fall and will provide state-of-the-art technology for patients.

With the Hospital Sisters investing $9.5 million in this project, the community has the opportunity to add to this investment through a capital campaign for further renovations and equipment. The hospital’s first capital campaign in the last 50 years was launched in October 2016 to support enhancements and renovations throughout the hospital.
As health care financing becomes more and more complicated, hospitals across the country are relying on their Foundations to help meet the health care needs of their communities. These investments not only assist in providing advanced patient care, but they also help to attract more physicians to practice at their hospitals, which ultimately keeps quality health care options available close to home.
The $1 million capital campaign will enable St. Joseph’s Hospital to provide the following improvements in addition to the surgery center expansion:
Emergency Department Renovations – This renovation will add a reception area to the Emergency Department and provide updated interior renovations throughout the department.
3D Mammography Technology – 3D mammography is now the standard in breast health and will keep advanced technology close to home.
Complete Renovation of 20 Inpatient Rooms – This renovation will offer private, modern accommodations for you and your family.
Digital Fluoroscopic Imaging Room – This state-of-the-art technology offers physicians “movie-like”, digital x-ray results while examining deep tissue and organs.
C-Arm Attachment – Physicians will be able to access immediate radiographic imaging results during surgical, orthopedic, critical and emergency care procedures with this new imaging technology.
Meditation Garden – In the spirit of St. Francis, this garden will offer patients and visitors a tranquil place to reflect while in the hospital’s care.
Through the capital campaign, a total of $990,000 of the $1 million goal has been raised to achieve the renovations and technology purchases. HSHS St. Joseph’s Foundation thanks those donors for helping them get close to their capital campaign goal, and invite those who have not yet made a donation to be a part of this exciting and rare opportunity to make significant enhancements to St. Joseph’s Hospital.
