Hospital fair parade float takes 3rd for best theme
July 21, 2017
HSHS St. Joseph’s in Breese had a winner with this 2017 Clinton County Fair
Parade float depicting the dam at Carlyle Lake, complete with running water. Judges liked the hospital’s entry - designed and built by Volunteer Services - so much they awarded it third place as best representing this year’s parade theme, “50 Years of Carlyle Lake.” Hospital colleagues and volunteers participating in the parade included (from left) walkers Theresa Beckmann, Sara Kampwerth, Marla Mensing, Rene Kruse and John Jeffries, drivers Jackie and Don Reeves, and Volunteer Services Director Judy Schrage who rode on the float’s top level. Also walking was (not pictured) Kylee Wuest. Although the heat may have kept some people away – the temperature was in the high 80s at the 6 p.m. start time – crowds lined the route of the 90-minute parade that began at the northeast corner of the courthouse and ended at the fairgrounds.
