Stroke Support Group to meet June 20 at HealthPlex
June 9, 2017
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese will host a Stroke Support Group meeting on Tuesday, June 20, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the HealthPlex Conference Room. The HealthPlex is located north of the hospital at 14160 Jamestown Road, Breese, and has separate parking lot and a covered entrance in front of the building.
The goal of the Stroke Support Group is to foster a better understanding of stroke recovery, rehabilitation, and prevention of recurrent strokes, while providing an opportunity for stroke survivors to meet others with similar challenges. In addition, the meetings offer caregivers and family members of stroke patients an open atmosphere for sharing and for supporting each other. There is no charge to attend.
HSHS St. Joseph’s Highland and HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Belleville also offer groups, and attendees may mix and match locations as necessary. “Medications Related to Stroke” will be the topic of discussion at the June meeting. Future Breese sessions being planned include: August 15, discussing “Community Resources,” October 17 with a focus on “Staying Active,” and December 19 where attendees will “Meet the Dietitian.” All sessions are from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the HealthPlex.
