QPR Suicide Prevention

HSHS Sacred Heart & St. Joseph's hospitals host free sessions for anyone who would like to learn how to recognize the warning signs that someone may be thinking about suicide, and how to help them. The training is called "Question, Persuade, Refer" - or "QPR." Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save a life.

Mental Health First Aid

HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's hospitals host free Mental Health First Aid class for anyone would like to recognize the unique risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses such as anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and schizophrenia. Specific classes can be presented to discuss youth, veterans, older adults and rural populations.

During the training, attendees will learn the risk factors and warning signs of mental health concerns, be given a five-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health concern or crisis, and be given available evidence-based professional, peer and self-help resources.
