(HIGHLAND/CARLYLE, IL) – In recognition of February being National Canned Food Month, HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois recently teamed up with HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland, and area nursing homes and assisted living facilities to “Cram the Car” with non-perishable food items for the Highland Area Christian Ministry and Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry.  This food drive effort by these organizations collected 450 pounds, filling two Home Care cars of food for these two area ministries.

“Thanks to the generous contributions of our HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital colleagues and community members, this ‘Cram the Car’ food drive was a success,” said Ethan Beck, HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois Marketing Specialist. “The food we were able to collect was much appreciated by both Highland Area Christian Ministry and Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry and will be used to help families in the area.”

Beck extended his gratitude to the following organizations for teaming up with HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois in making this food drive a success:
