We want to let you know HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital started performing elective surgeries again on Monday, May 11 under Illinois public health guidelines. If you have a surgery or procedure scheduled, you will receive instructions from your provider or the hospital on next steps.

Your health and safety are our top priority. St. Mary’s Hospital has enhanced its infection prevention and safety protocols to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19. These enhanced measures include visitor restrictions and the use of the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) by both clinical and non-clinical colleagues. In addition, when applicable, surgery patients will be screened for COVID-19.

We would also like to provide you with some other important information.

Don’t delay emergency care
HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital would like to remind our community that we are open and available to provide all types of emergency medical care, 24/7, regardless of the current public health crisis.

  • If you’re experiencing symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, a serious injury or potential broken bone, call 911 or come to the Emergency Department.

  • If you have urgent non-respiratory symptoms, like a twisted ankle, stomach pain or a minor cut that might need stitches, please go to a HSHS Medical Group walk-in clinic.

  • If you're experiencing other non-urgent symptoms such as allergies, rashes, ear aches or pink eye, call your primary care doctor or send a message through {MyChart}.

Concerned about COVID-19 symptoms?
If you are experiencing cough, fever or shortness of breath, please call your primary care doctor and do not go directly to a doctor’s office. A nurse will assess your symptoms over the phone and advise you on your next level of care.

Want to speak to a medical provider about your symptoms? Get a free COVID-19 assessment with AnytimeCare.com. You can also call our COVID-19 hotline at 217-464-2966 for more information.

You can help
There are multiple ways you can help us in this fight against COVID-19.

  • Ace Sign Company and Primo Designs teamed up to raise money for HSHS St. Mary’s Foundation. By visiting heartsforhealthcare.com you can purchase Hearts for Healthcare Workers yard signs and t-shirts to benefit local COVID-19 response efforts.

  • Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach continues to accept clean medical supplies in its lobby, day or night.

It is our privilege to care for you. We encourage you to take steps to manage your health, both physical and mental, during this time.
