HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Auxilians, who up until recently were unable to volunteer their time at the hospital due to COVID-19 restrictions, were finally able to gather around a bench and plaque dedicated to long-time Auxilian and hospital volunteer Judy Wiggins.

Judy was an avid golfer and when she wasn’t holing putts on the green, she was volunteering at St. Mary’s. She even found a way to combine her two passions and helped run the Auxiliary’s annual golf outing for many years.

During her time at St. Mary’s, Judy was also very active with the Auxiliary Artisans. She quickly found her niche by making wooden crafts for the group’s fall and Christmas bazaars.

Upon Judy’s passing, it was decided that a bench be placed somewhere on the campus in honor of her service to the hospital. That bench is located on the patio outside Prairie Cardiovascular. It is a lovely place for patients, guests and colleagues to get some fresh air.

If you would like to further Judy’s mission and join the St. Mary’s Auxiliary, please contact Shelli Brunner at the HSHS St. Mary’s Foundation at 217-464-2520 or by email at shelli.brunner@hshs.org.
