We invite the public to sign up for a lunch and learn seminar with Cardiologist Luis Caceres, MD from the Prairie Heart Institute. The seminar will take place at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in the Assisi Room on Friday, February 17 from noon to 1 p.m. Dr. Caceres’s seminar will focus on the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

“I am looking forward to educating the public on what they can do to improve their cardiovascular health and to enjoy life without heart disease,” said Caceres. “Not only will I discuss how we can assess our risk of having a cardiovascular accident but also what to do to decrease cardiovascular risk.”

Space is limited and reservations are required. Call 217-464-2510 or email Laura.Brown1@hshs.org to reserve your spot.

Prairie Heart Institute also recommends these stress management tips for heart healthy living:

  1. Count to ten and take deep breaths.

  2. Make a "To-Do List" or schedule to help prioritize your day.

  3. Get plenty of sleep.

  4. Eat healthy.

  5. Exercise regularly.

  6. Keep a journal. Writing down your feelings helps to get them out.

  7. Avoid smoking and limit your alcohol intake.
