Green Bay – Stroke, a disease that affects arteries leading to and within the brain, is the fifth-leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States, according to the American Stroke Association. A stroke can happen to anyone at any age – men and women of all ages and races. The good news is, up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable.
On Monday, June 25 and Friday, June 29, HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center and Prevea Health will offer free stroke screenings. Participants will meet with a registered nurse who will check their blood pressure and pulse, review their stroke history and provide education to help control personal risk factors for stroke.
