The HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Laboratory provides timely, cost-effective diagnostic pathology and laboratory services for hospital patients, outpatients and outreach patients in our community’s physicians’ offices.
Our laboratory operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure your tests are processed in a fast, effective way. Our lab is certified by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) to perform high complexity testing and we are accredited by:

The laboratory provides testing for in-patients, out-patients, and industry employees and reference testing for physician offices and local nursing homes. Outpatients must register in the Admitting Services (located in the front of the hospital) before presenting to the laboratory for service.

What You Need to Know
Accredited by the College of American Pathologists, our laboratory is full-service, has up-to-date technology and provides an extensive list of tests that are performed on-site. For specialized, non-routine tests, the laboratory uses well-known reference laboratories such as Quest, Mayo Medical Laboratories, the State Laboratory of Hygiene and Sacred Heart Hospital Laboratory.
HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital collects and properly disposes of sharp medical wastes such as needles and lancets, commonly known as sharps. Our program meets the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources requirements for sharps disposal and reduces the risk of passing on blood borne infection.
Large and small containers can be purchased in the hospital Gift Shop. Medical waste is properly disposed of free of charge when people bring the container back to the hospital Laboratory.
HSHS Laboratories are proud to be the local laboratories that provide COVID-19 testing to the community. Tests are collected at a Prevea Health location and sent to HSHS laboratories for analysis.
