Interventional Cardiologist Brings Advanced Heart Care to Carbondale

Prairie Cardiovascular and HSHS Medical Group welcome Hanad Bashir, MD, an interventional cardiologist, to Prairie Cardiovascular - Carbondale, 409 W. Oak St.

Dr. Bashir provides interventional cardiology care for patients with complex heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery and other cardiovascular conditions that can affect daily life and long-term heart health.

Dr. Bashir works closely with each patient to help them understand their cardiovascular risks, diagnosis and treatment options in a clear and approachable way. When advanced treatment is needed, Dr. Bashir is committed to offering innovative, evidence-based and minimally invasive procedural care. His goal is to ensure every patient feels informed, heard and actively involved in their treatment decisions while receiving the highest level of care.

Dr. Bashir earned his medical degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical College, in Wuhan, China. He completed his internal medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he served as chief resident. He then completed his cardiovascular medicine fellowship at The Christ Hospital, where he served as chief fellow, followed by advanced fellowship training in interventional cardiology at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Bashir is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine, with additional certifications in echocardiography, cardiovascular CT and nuclear cardiology. He has been published in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals and has served as a reviewer for several medical journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, CHEST and the American Heart Journal.
