Minimally Invasive Tricuspid Valve Repair (TriClip™)

TriClip™ is a breakthrough treatment for patients suffering from severe tricuspid regurgitation—a condition where the heart's tricuspid valve doesn't close properly, causing blood to leak backward.

Who May Benefit

TriClip™ is designed for patients with symptomatic severe tricuspid regurgitation who experience fatigue, shortness of breath, leg swelling, or fluid retention despite medication. Ideal candidates are typically older adults at intermediate or high risk for open-heart surgery due to age or other health conditions.

The Procedure

TriClip™ uses a minimally invasive approach performed under general anesthesia.

A catheter is inserted through a vein in the groin and guided to the heart, where a small clip is placed on the tricuspid valve leaflets. This clip brings the valve flaps together, creating a better seal and reducing backward blood flow.

The procedure involves no chest opening, no heart-lung bypass, and typically requires only a one to two-day hospital stay. Most patients notice symptom improvement within days or weeks.

Results

Clinical trials show TriClip™ significantly improves quality of life, reduces heart failure hospitalizations by 28%, and helps patients return to daily activities they previously couldn't perform.

If you have been diagnosed with severe tricuspid regurgitation, talk to your cardiologist to learn if TriClip™ might be right for you.
