HSHS participates in WHA's 2024 Advocacy Day

Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) leadership joined more than 700 health care leaders, providers, hospital staff, and trustees on March 20 at the state capitol to participate in the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s (WHA) annual Advocacy Day.
Attendees heard from AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack, the event’s keynote speaker; an address by Gov. Tony Evers; and a bipartisan legislative panel with Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester), Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine), Majority Leader Sen. Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) and Minority Leader Sen. Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton).
HSHS President and CEO Damond Boatwright joined state lawmakers and staff in the State Capitol to participate in discussions addressing threats to the hospital safety net and the workforce shortage. HSHS operates four hospitals in Wisconsin: St. Vincent and St. Mary’s in Green Bay; St. Nicholas in Sheboygan; and St. Clare Memorial in Oconto Falls.
“WHA’s Advocacy Day was an important opportunity to share the commitment of our HSHS hospitals to serve the health care needs of patients and communities in Wisconsin,” Mr. Boatwright said. “It’s also an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by the health care industry in recent years.”
“We need to remind everyone how vital hospitals are to their communities, especially small, rural communities. HSHS appreciates the advocacy WHA provides in support of Wisconsin hospitals; that support is needed more than ever if we are to sustain access to quality health services for all people, regardless of their ability to pay.”
