Physician of the Month

Jignesh Modi, MD

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Jignesh Modi, MD, with our December Physician of the Month Award. Dr. Modi is an infectious disease physician at HSHS Medical Group Multispecialty Care in Decatur.

The Physician of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members. “Dr. Modi goes above and beyond the call of duty with each and every patient he comes in contact with,” his nominator said. “Every patient he meets feels his compassion for whatever issue they are going through. He takes the time with each patient to explain their issue and ease their concerns.”

When asked what his favorite part of his job is, Dr. Modi said, “Each day I’m faced with different challenges that keep me on my toes.” He says, “No two cases will be the same as each individual patient has their own specific needs that must be considered when being treated. I have learned that an illness can impact people from all walks of life, young or old, healthy or frail. Showing compassion and putting aside all our differences is the heart of what we do as medical professionals. Patients require more than a diagnosis and treatment – they need respect, dignity, and compassion along the way.” When asked what his guiding principle is, Dr. Modi said, “In treating a patient, I try to remember this individual is a mother/father, husband/wife, brother/sister, etc. In doing so, I remember my own family and in turn treat patients how I’d want my family to be treated.”

Outside of work Dr. Modi enjoys watching and playing cricket as well as spending most of his time with his wife and two kids, who are his motivation.

Colleague of the Month

Christopher Jones

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Christopher Jones with our December Colleague of the Month Award. Christopher is a medical assistant at HSHS Medical Group Priority Care in Springfield.

The Colleague of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members and patients. “Chris always has a positive attitude and patients are constantly complimenting him on his excellent patient care,” his nominator said. “He goes above and beyond for his patients to make sure they feel important, comfortable and safe.”

When asked what his favorite part of his job is, Chris said, “Making people feel just a little better with some laughter.”  He said, “I always express that we appreciate the patient’s choice to come to us for their health care needs. I respect everyone and their needs, and do so with love and a big smile.” When asked what his guiding principle is, Chris said, “To treat everyone like they are family and try to bring a little laugher and happiness to everyone I encounter.”

When not working, Chris enjoys playing the drums and Xbox.
