Provider of the Month

Sarah Poirot, APRN

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Sarah Poirot, APRN, with our January Provider of the Month Award. Sarah is a family medicine provider at HSHS Medical Group Family & Sports Medicine in O'Fallon.

The Provider of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members. “It’s easy to forget how big someone’s heart is when you work together every day while battling a pandemic and burnout. Recently, Sarah reminded all of us just how big her heart truly is,” her nominator said. “Sarah is a walking and talking embodiment of our mission and values. She shows she cares through her actions, with such a giving heart. She is an amazing nurse practitioner, not only to her patients but also to her staff.”

When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Sarah said, “When I get to see individuals or families show growth in their lives. Now that I have been with HSHS Medical Group for over 5 years, I have an immense number of patient success stories and have been able to see some amazing changes in so many of them.” She says, “I have discovered so many interesting things about my patients. I learned that my retired Army veteran is also a master seamstress, another works with custom made Broncos, another helps organize organ transplants. I have teachers, nurses, piano teachers, horse trainers etc. I love learning about all the unique talents that everyone brings to the community. Having these relationships and discussions with my patients helps me connect with them and be able to appreciate and empathize with them on how their health care problem may also result in a change of some aspect of their life. We work together to solve their health issue to get them back to their daily life quickly.” When asked what her guiding principle is, Sarah said, “I always look at things from the patient perspective; don't judge, just listen.”

Outside of work Sarah enjoys crafting, gardening, golfing, reading, and traveling.

Colleague of the Month

Sheri Doss

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Sheri Doss with our January Colleague of the Month Award. Sheri is a Patient Account Representative at the HSHS Medical Group Occupational Health & Wellness Clinic in Decatur.

The Colleague of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members and patients. "I feel like you couldn't have picked a more perfect person for this nomination. Sheri is the backbone for the mobile unit, and she expresses all our core values in everything she does,” her nominator said. “She always has a smile on her face and is always upbeat and positive. She is resilient and continues to work towards improvement and patient satisfaction. Sheri is one of a kind - she is more than a colleague; she is a true friend.”

When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Sheri said, “Being the person behind the scenes making things run smoothly for our patients.”  She said, “I express to each one how grateful we are for trusting us with their health care. It’s an honor to represent HSHS and knowing we have a positive impact on our community and throughout the state.” When asked what his guiding principle is, Sheri said, “Gratitude is key. When you are grateful you can see all the blessing in your life.”

When not working, Sheri enjoys camping, listening to music, swimming and spending time with her family.
