HSHS Medical Group Announces the October 2022 C.A.R.E. Award Winners

November 15, 2022

Provider of the Month

Helen Kennedy, APRN

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Helen Kennedy, APRN, with our October Provider of the Month Award. Helen is a family nurse practitioner at HSHS Medical Group Family Medicine in Mt. Zion.

The Provider of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members. “Helen very positive and caring,” her nominator said. “She helps others when in need and looks out for everyone. I could never thank her enough for being who she is.”

When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Helen said, “I'm honored that patients share some of the most difficult things in their lives with me.” She says, “I start each day with a prayer that God uses me in all my patient's lives. I treat each patient the way I wanted my mother treated when she had, and passed away from, breast cancer. Each patient is a gift God has sent me for a particular reason. Often it is to teach me something about myself.”

Outside of work Helen enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, Audrey and Everett; making jewelry; and reading.

Colleague of the Month

Katie Davis

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Katie Davis with our October Colleague of the Month Award. Katie is a Radiology Facilitator for nine clinics across Central Illinois.

The Colleague of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members and patients. “There is always something unexpected that comes up, yet everything she does, she does with respect, care, competence and joy,” her nominator said. “I couldn’t do my job without her."

When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Katie said, “The people. I’m surrounded by amazing individuals, and it makes it easy to like my job and look forward to it each day.” She said, “The core values are the cornerstones of patient-first care. By respecting my colleagues and showing them that HSHS cares, they are better equipped to display the core values to our patients. My guiding principles are fairness and equality in all things. I also believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt - no one really sets out to do a bad job.”

When not working, Katie enjoys reading and playing video games.
