HSHS Medical Group Awards Provider of the Month to Tamara Hardwick, APRN, CLC

HSHS Medical Group is pleased to award Tamara Hardwick, APRN, CLC, with our February 2022 Provider of the Month Award. Tami is a nurse practitioner and certified lactation counselor with HSHS Medical Group Multispecialty Care in Springfield and HSHS Medical Group Family Health in Chatham.
The Provider of the Month is chosen from nominations submitted by fellow HSHS Medical Group team members. One colleague, whose daughter is a patient of Tami’s said, “My daughter has been having significant amount of seizures and sees a neurologist at St. Louis. The neurologist wanted her to be admitted for IV steroids in St. Louis. I called Tami and she went above and beyond by calling the hospitalist at St. John's to see if they would accept my daughter as a direct admit and do IV steroids there. She called me herself and told me they accepted her. I am so thankful to have her as a provider.”
Tami said there are many things she loves about her job. She said, “If I had to choose, my favorite part is getting to know my patients and their families. Working as a primary care provider in an office gives me the opportunity to see my patients on a regular basis. I can watch them grow and change. It is so rewarding - I love it!”
Tami’s guiding principle is to treat others as she would want to be treated. “I try to put myself in the patient/parents’ shoes - What would I want the provider for my kids to do in this situation? This helps me to respond appropriately to their needs, fears and worries.”
When not helping her patients, Tami loves to spend time with her family, but can also be found baking or reading.
