HSHS Medical Group expands endocrinology care in Springfield

HSHS Medical Group welcomes Emily Nielsen, MSN, FNP, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, to HSHS Medical Group Diabetes and Endocrinology-Springfield at 1118 Legacy Pointe Drive. She provides care for patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders and other endocrine conditions. Care includes preventive services, medication management and ongoing support for chronic conditions, helping patients understand their diagnosis and manage daily health needs.

Nielsen emphasizes clear communication and shared decision-making in every visit. Care plans are tailored to each patient, with a focus on realistic goals and long-term health management. Personal experience with diabetes informs an understanding of the challenges patients face and supports a practical approach to care.

Nielsen earned a Master of Science in nursing (MSN) and a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner and is certified in bariatric nursing, supporting experience in weight management and metabolic health.
