HSHS Medical Group has opened a new general surgery clinic in the Springfield area, HSHS Medical Group General Surgery-Springfield, located at 301 N. Eighth St., Fifth Floor. Two board-certified general surgeons, Mahmoud Abd-El-Hafez, MD, and Bradley Wilson, MD, FACS, are providing care at the new clinic, offering a full range of surgical services with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques, clear communication and patient-centered care.
Mahmoud Abd-El-Hafez, MD
Dr. Abd-El-Hafez provides surgical care for a range of conditions, including both planned and emergency needs. When possible, procedures are done using minimally invasive techniques to support recovery. Clear explanations are provided so patients understand their condition, treatment options and next steps.
Dr. Abd-El-Hafez earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed a general surgery residency at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas, and an endocrine surgery research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
His approach focuses on listening, clear communication and practical care. Patients are encouraged to ask questions and take part in decisions. He provides care that respects their needs and goals.
Bradley Wilson, MD, FACS
Dr. Wilson brings more than 20 years of independent surgical experience to patients in Springfield. He provides surgical care including gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, skin cancer treatments and upper and lower endoscopy. He also has special interest in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, which allows patients to have smaller incisions, less scarring, less pain and a shorter recovery time.
Dr. Wilson understands that surgery can feel overwhelming. He works with patients by listening carefully, answering questions and explaining treatment options in clear, practical terms. He helps patients understand when surgery is needed and when other treatment options may be a better choice.
Dr. Wilson completed his general surgery residency at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, where he received specialized training in evaluating, treating and caring for patients with a wide range of surgical needs. He earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. Wilson is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
