And, we have access to helicopters 24 hours a day to ensure our patients receive the care they need as quickly as possible. We are equipped to take care of any patient who comes to St. Francis Hospital.

Stat Heart Program

The Emergency Services Department physicians at HSHS St. Francis Hospital provide treatment for patients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The nursing team is certified in cardiac life support, pediatric life support and trauma. We also work closely with the Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL to provide the Stat Heart program.

The Stat Heart Program streamlines emergency heart care to meet the national goal of providing angioplasty (a non-surgical procedure to treat diseased arteries) within 90 to 120 minutes from a patient’s arrival at the hospital.

When a suspected heart attack patient arrives in the St. Francis emergency room, an overhead announcement alerts representatives from lab, radiology, cardiopulmonary and ICU, as well as key nursing staff, to respond to the ER. If a heart attack is confirmed the patient is transferred to a hospital with a cardiac catherization lab within 90 minutes of arrival.

If you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms, please dial 9-1-1 or visit an Emergency Room.
